Invest in Land in 2011

We have always believed that land is a good investment. Not a quick money maker, but one you can count on to grow in value with time, and even better, one you can use for your home, or hunting, or family recreation while you have it.

Investingsense.net had a recent post from a guest poster that really sums it up:
The real estate brokers can take the investors to visit the available properties; if the investor is satisfied with the property then the deal in closed. The investor makes the purchase and the broker gets a commission or a fee on the property sold. Property investments normally pay off in the long term; as investors make capital gains from the appreciation in property value. Prices of real estate might rise in the short run as well but not as much. When property investments are concerned, larger profits are normally made in the long term.

Giving from your Heart

You've finished the shopping and wrapped all the gifts (see the last post!) but now you want to give just a little more.

It seems most people have a charity or two they like to donate to. But sometimes you wonder how much of your dollar is really going toward the cause?

Two great sites that can help are CharityWatch.org and CharityNavigator.org These sites rate charities based on percentage of money going for administrative costs and financial dealings, plus let you know which are most popular as well as new groups who need your help and much more. It will help you feel better knowing your dollars really are helping someone this holiday season.

From the BuyWisconsinLand.com team: Roy, Jerry, Mike, Lance and Shelley, we wish everyone a very joyous Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season.

The Gift For Someone Who Has Everything

Many of us struggle with this every Christmas. There is always someone on your list that is impossible to shop for, who seems to already have everything.

How many times can you buy Dad a new tie, or get Mom another bouquet of flowers? Or your special someone that says 'Oh I really don't need anything, whatever you get will be fine.'

Now we at BuyWisconsinLand.com think that recreational property makes a great Christmas gift. Imagine the look on your loved one's face to see that you have given them the deed to a waterfront vacation lot or wooded hunting acreage! It's a gift that they can enjoy for years and years to come.

Ok - so your Christmas budget doesn't included several thousand dollars for a gift of real estate.

How about a square inch of land? You can 'own' property in one or all 50 states from Own a Piece of America www.ownapieceofamerica.com for as little as $3.95!

Now we haven't bought anything here, nor are we associated with the owners of this property or website in any way. But we did check some on-line reviews of the site and they all seem to good, and the company doesn't claim to be selling anything but a novelty gift item. Just read through the FAQ section and find out how you can 'own' land across the country before you buy.

How's that for a gift for someone who 'thought' they had everything?

If a square inch isn't enought for you, visit us at BuyWisconsinLand.com for recreational and hunting property in over 40 Counties in Wisconsin.

Out In the Woods

The woods will be seeing lots of activity in the next week with the start of the annual Whitetail Deer Gun season this Saturday. All hunters are required to wear Blaze Orange during this season. "Wearing at least 50 per cent blaze orange above the waist including a hat has been law since 1980. The color was chosen following field tests that proved blaze orange was seen best in all light and brush conditions" -from the Wisconsin DNR website.

So if you plan to be outdoors during this time, to look at property or hike through the woods, even in areas where you don't believe there are hunters it is recommended that you wear blaze orange to be safe. Vests and hats are available at many retailers around the state.

Wishing everyone a safe and successful hunt - for deer and property!

Keep Your Land "Wildlife Friendly"

One great thing about owning wooded acreage, there is plenty of wildlife to see and hear. And if you'd like help to keep your "wild area" wild, consider joining the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program run by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. This program provides funds and advice on how to restore and keep up your land with native plants and provide the best enviroment for wildlife.

For an overview of this program, see this page on the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge's site Private Landowner Assistance or visit the US Fish and Wildlife Service website Habitat and Resource Conservation

Land Values in Wisconsin

There is an old saying that "something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". So when buying land, how do you what you should be willing to pay?

At our BuyWisconsinLand.com website we have a Land Value Averages Chart that shows average acreage prices on land for 3 years in some counties across Wisconsin. You can see what other people "have been willing to pay". Remember, these are averages of properties sold throughout each county, and location and amenities will affect prices for individual properties. This chart can give you some idea as to where the best deals on properties may be, or where to find a property that will fit your budget.

So whether you are just curious or looking to find out what properties are going for in your area, check out our Land Value Averages Chart. We at BuyWisconsinLand.com believe that the more information you have before you buy, the better chance you will be happy when purchasing your dream property.
